Hey Ankesh,
Do these footers show up if someone subscribes to your feed via email (vs. in a reader)?
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
great info man
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
Adam: Thanks for commenting
Yes - the footers are added to the RSS feed itself. So they will show up via email too. I don’t think there is a way around this.
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
Thanks for a good work! I was currently looking for that kind of WordPress plugin. Good luck with making of new and useful plugins!
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
Great stuff! Just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
Hey, great plugin! Question, once installing this plugin and entering some data, how long should it take to appear on the feed?
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
MillionDollarJourney: As soon as you make your next post. The footer is only shown in new RSS posts.
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
This is very helpful and I will definitely add this to my feed. I’m glad John Chow posted this about you, otherwise I would not have known.
Posted 13 Jul 2007 #
Thanks for the information! I’ll leave some feedback once tomorrow’s post comes out.
Posted 14 Jul 2007 #
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. You will certainly be adding value to each and every blogger who decides to leverage the program you spent time compiling. John Chow also introduced me to the tool. Way to go. Much Success
Posted 14 Jul 2007 #
It is great, but would be better if I could put some php code in there too. That way I can include the code for ad rotator http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/wordpress-plugin-adrotator-rotate-your-ads-including-adsense-dynamically/ or any other ads plugin ….
Posted 14 Jul 2007 #
hombrelobo: PHP code can’t be added because all the Feed readers (Google Reader, Bloglines) don’t support PHP in feeds.
Posted 14 Jul 2007 #
Of course they don’t. But wordpress does. What I mean is not PHP code that goes straight to the HTML, but PHP that is interpreted and included in the HTML.
For instance, to include AdRotator code in my template, I add a line of PHP code in the template. Would be nice to be able to add that same line to Feed Footer, and that feed footer converts it to the resulting HTML code ….
Posted 15 Jul 2007 #
hombrelobo: That is a good idea. Am working on a few other ideas so not sure if I’ll have time to chase that now. But if someone else doesn’t come out with something like that, I may work on it after a few weeks - and come up with an upgraded version of the plugin.
Posted 16 Jul 2007 #
Do have a “feed for every post and trackback address plugin?”
Posted 18 Jul 2007 #
MT Herald: I didn’t really understand your question. Could you please elaborate?
Posted 18 Jul 2007 #
I am assuming that this will support Adsense code, correct?
By the way I also found this plugin via John Chow.
Posted 18 Jul 2007 #
Average Joe: It doesn’t support Adsense because Adsense doesn’t use HTML. It uses Javascript. And no feed reader (Bloglines, Google Reader) supports javascript.
Its not a deficiency in the plugin. Its a deficiency in the feed readers.
Posted 19 Jul 2007 #
This plugin looks great, I’m going to install it on my blog to see what happens.
Posted 20 Jul 2007 #
Nice work! I will try your plugin tonight.
Posted 22 Jul 2007 #
Ankesh,
You could see at the end of posts in some blogs like this: “Feed for this Entry. Trackback Address” which is a part of the template and you too have it in your template. Unluckily I am missing that in my template but I cannot sacrifice the template.
So do you have any add-ons for this to appear at the end of every post?
Otherwise, because of your beer plugin, I have become an addict of your blog prompting repeated visits, rather than subscribing to your feed
I too have some issues with your feed footer plugin for which I will get back to you after trial and error.
Posted 23 Jul 2007 #
MT Herald: You will need to go and edit your theme. And add the trackback tag to the code. The exact tag to add can be found here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/trackback_url
Posted 23 Jul 2007 #
One problem: it’s not working! Or at least, I don’t think it is.
I’ve got it installed, I’ve entered some html into footer #1… but are you saying that it automatically rotates the 10 footers? Is that why you say to put the same text in all 10 boxes?
(confused…)
Posted 25 Jul 2007 #
Adam: Thanks. Have you made a new post after installing the plugin? The plugin places footers below new posts only.
After installing the plugin, make a new post - and the 1st footer will be shown under it - in the RSS feed. Make another new post - and the 2nd footer will be shown under it. And so on till the 10th new post. When you make the 11th new post, the 1st footer is shown under it again. And the cycle continues.
Hope this clarifies the issue.
Posted 25 Jul 2007 #
Hmm… I’ve had it activated for quite a few posts now, but I’m not seeing it anywhere.
I just went and copied box #1 into all the boxes, and we’ll see what happens with my next post…
Posted 26 Jul 2007 #
I can’t get it to work either.
Posted 30 Jul 2007 #
Bryce: Thanks for commenting. Have you made a new post after you’ve successfully installed the plugin? The plugin places a footer under new posts.
Posted 30 Jul 2007 #
That did the trick, Ankesh. I just copied footer #1’s info and pasted it into the rest of the boxes, and it showed up on the very next post.
Posted 31 Jul 2007 #
well for me it doesn’t work, even after a few new posts. none of the 10 boxes appear bellow the new posts
Posted 03 Aug 2007 #
Jonix: Could you tell me a bit more about it? What html or text code have you entered in all the 10 feed footer boxes?
When did you install the plugin? When was your latest post made?
If the answer is too long, please email it to me. The contact link is on the top of this page.
Posted 03 Aug 2007 #
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve filled out all the slots with feeds, but nothing seems to show up.
I have Buy Me A Beer and Similar Posts Feeds adding to my feeds, so I’m not sure if there’s some conflict.
Any ideas?
Posted 12 Aug 2007 #
It seems that the last few people haven’t gotten it to work.
Might it be that it somehow died with a Wordpress Upgrade? I’m on 2.1.2

Baz: The plugin is working fine for everyone. Its working fine on WP 2.1.2 too. Its just that most people don’t return back to place a comment and say that the plugin started working when their issues have been solved.
Most people who are having a problem are doing one of the two things wrong:
1. They are not filling in all the 10 fields. You have to fill in all the 10 fields in the Options > Feed Footer tab.
2. They haven’t made a post after they’ve installed the plugin. As the above post says - the plugin places a footer only under “new” posts. Your old posts aren’t touched.
I just checked your blog and it seems like your last post is made on 11th Aug. And your comment is made on 12th August. So may be you too haven’t made a new post after you’ve installed the plugin.
Make a new post and it should work.
Posted 12 Aug 2007 #
@Ankesh Kothari, i resolved the problem. It was another plugin that was making the problem. I removed that plugin, and all is well now
Posted 13 Aug 2007 #
Jonix: Thanks for your comment. Could you tell me which plugin led to the problems?
Posted 13 Aug 2007 #
I got it working, but I’m not sure what the problem was. I could see that the tables were being populated, but they just weren’t showing up in the feed.
I went through a few things: I deactivated, deleted the table, then reactivated.
Go figure. it works now.
I won’t be one of those that don’t come back and say it is.
ThanX for at least taking a look man. Much appreciated.

Hi! Love the idea of the plug-in, but I haven’t been able to make it work. All ten field ARE filled in and I’ve posted twice since filling them out.
I’d be grateful to hear any thoughts you might have- I’d love to make use of this nifty plug-in.
Posted 30 Aug 2007 #
Like Baz, I deactivated, deleted the table, and reactivated…now it seems to work. Weird.
Posted 31 Aug 2007 #
Thanks for this plugin! Easy to install and easy to use!
Posted 01 Sep 2007 #
So does this display one of the 10 html lines you add to the plugin? JohnChow seems to be able to display 5 at a time. I don’t want to display one or 10 at tehe same time on the same post. How can I set it to show 5 random lines?
Posted 05 Sep 2007 #
John Cow: Thanks for asking. John Chow doesn’t show 5 random footers per post. Its just one footer per post. But he has added 5 ads per footer.
Also, the showing of footers is not random. The first post you make after the Feed Footer plugin has been installed will show the first footer. The second post will show the 2nd footer. And so on till the 10th footer. The 11th post you make will show the first footer again.
Hope this clarifies the issue for you.

I’ve noticed that this works when manually posting…
But when I import posts from one of my other blogs using a tool like: http://nosheep.net/story/import-remote-rss-in-wordpress/
then it doesn’t add the footer.
How would I get the footer to be added with this tool?
Thank you,
Sam
Posted 08 Sep 2007 #
Sam: Thanks for asking. One solution: You could add the Feed Footer plugin to the blog you’re importing from.

Hi Ankesh
This is a great plug-in…especially as it can be used to enable people to encourage readers to visit their main index page. This is really useful if they are using Feedburner and have outgoing links in their feed which do not link back to their site, like in mine.
I’ve now implemented it on Haiku Reviewer - many thanks!

Thanks for this great plugin!
I downloaded it and tried it out, but the link doesn’t appear at the end of my feedburner feed. I’m using WP 2.3.1 - are there any issues w/ that?
Thanks again!
Posted 08 Nov 2007 #
Nick: You haven’t made a new post since Nov 7 - that is 2 days ago. As this post says: the plugin places the footers only under new posts. So make a new post and the first footer will come underneath it.
Posted 09 Nov 2007 #
Thanks Ankesh,
I installed the plugin before I made my post on the 5th and have made daily posts since then.
I only have HTML for box #1…and it’s just an “” link. I have uploaded it to my plugins folder, activated it, and saved my options.
Thanks for your help!
Nick
Posted 10 Nov 2007 #
Nick: Thanks. Please add the HTML to all the boxes. How it works is: Footer 1 will come up under post 1. Footer 2 will come up under post 2. So if footer 2 is blank, nothing will come up under post 2. So just copy-paste the same footer in all the boxes and it should start working.
Posted 12 Nov 2007 #
Ankesh,
That did the trick! Thanks so much for your help and for this plugin!
Posted 14 Nov 2007 #
I guess it works not if you publish via feedburner and it gets lost in the handshake, right?!
Posted 15 Nov 2007 #
I put html in all the fields, wrote a test post but in the feed I can see the html and not the hyerlink etc.
Am I doing something wrong?
This is a sample of what I put in:
Company Buy quality mortgage leads in real-time from us. Exclusive available.
it is not showing like it is in this comment . As if it cannot handle html code.
Posted 17 Nov 2007 #
thanks for the GREAT post! Very useful…

For a short while I was certain there was an error in your script. I can’t tell you how glad I was to figure out that the problem was between my chair and keyboard. User error once again.
This is going to become a standard plugin for all sites I set up from now on.
Nice job!
Posted 24 Nov 2007 #
Could it be that there’s a little bug inside which makes that every 10th post has no footer? I am not quite sure, but maybe there is an error in the function “returnRssFeed”. Modulo does from 0 to 9 and the options are numbered from 1 to 10.
Inserting the following line below modulo fixed this…
if($this->rssCurrentIndexrssCurrentIndex>=$this->rssMaxFeeds)
$this->rssCurrentIndex=1;

I am stuck. I have been able to get it to work on some blogs but not on one of them. Does anybody know what plug ins it may not be working with this?
Posted 30 Jan 2008 #
I was having trouble with this too and thought I would check out the comments first. I had only filled in two of the boxes and the #3-10 were blank. I have since filled in all 10 boxes and will see if that fixes the problem. A small suggestion would be to include this bit of information that you need to fill in all 10 boxes (even if it is the same message) to make this plug-in work. Including that in the instructions when applying this plug-in might help others have it working sooner. Great work and I am an RSS subscriber because of a few plug-ins I have found on your site!

I am having the same problem mentioned by Skaldrom Y. Sarg above in comment #59. Every 10th post has no footer added, but I have the same text in all ten boxes. Is there a bug like he mentioned, or do you know of any conflicts with other plugins that could be causing the problem? Thanks

Hi, this is a great plug in!
I have a problem that maybe you could help with. Windows Live Writer stopped working when I installed feed footer. I found that WLW stops attaching to blogs that might have a hidden blog spam footer (which feed footer does not). But still, I am having trouble finding a way to make WLW and feed footer play nice together.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks again for the great plugin!

I started using this plugin on WP 2.5.1 as well. No footer is showing up on my feed though I entered some HTML code in all 10 footer boxes.

Hi I looked at your plugin because I want to add adsense to my feed. Feedburner has a bit of javascript that you need to add to your theme to do that. The problem is that if you have to add it to many themes it becomes a problem.
